
<p>After 28 years of dedicated service to Baldwinsville, Officer Martin Knaul handed in his badge for retirement. Feeling unfulfilled, he returned from retirement as a school resource officer at Harry E. Elden Elementary School as it was important to him to continue fostering meaningful relationships in the community.</p>

He came out of retirement to build lasting relationships with the kids and hopes to leave an impact on the next generation. “I missed the kids; I enjoy the interactions and I aways hope to make some kind of impact or influence for the kids to make better choices in life.”

Rosie, a student at Harry E. Elden Elementary school, gives Officer Knaul a big hug as she passes him. While Rosie was beating cancer in 2020 her wish was to be a police officer. Four years later she is a beloved member of the community.
